Building High Performing Teams

BUILDING A TEAM CHARTER Program

A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO BUILD A HIGH PERFORMING TEAM LEADING TO AN INCREASE IN THE TEAM’S ENGAGEMENT AND COLLECTIVE PERFORMANCE.

WHAT IS A TEAM CHARTER

An expression of Ways of Working

It is the output of a series of working sessions where the team dynamic is assessed and team input is captured both individually and as a group.

It can vary in style and content

It can include topics such as team purpose, scope of work, how the team makes decisions, rules of engagement and how success is defined.

One Component in building a HPT

A team charter is one important component in building a High Performing Team (HPT). One where team members feel safe to have healthy debate and have their opinions valued.

AGREED-UPON BEHAVIOURS

These agreed-upon behaviors allow the team to increase its collective performance through healthy debate and clarity of purpose and roles.

Team Charter Key Components

Team Purpose

To create a team capable of extraordinary collective work, team members need to know that they do something important (purpose).

Team Norms

The charter will define operating principles, decision making process and meeting discipline.  Team norms help set expectations for team members.

Scope Of Work Defined

Examples of scope can include business performance/results, people, strategy/business planning, functional expert to other departments.

How Success is defined

How your team assesses its success will be explored and defined including other measures beyond financial metrics.

Why This Program Exists

“I have had the fortunate opportunity to be on many teams as a sales leader during my career.  At times, it has been an engaging experience, and at other times it has been an incredibly disengaging experience.  There are numerous components of a high performing team, but I have observed that there are a few common things present during the good experiences and they are absent during the bad experiences.  My goal with the Team Charter Program and the Effective Intelligence Program is to help you put some of these components in place with your team leading to a more engaged and productive high performing team”

What I Bring

experience

I have been fortunate to have led many sales teams at major CPG branded companies during my sales career, and have been a member of country leadership teams at different companies.  I have hands on experience building Team Charters both as a management team member and as a sales team leader.  I’ve seen this stuff work.

Best Practice

I bring real examples of implemented team charters and best practice process that have helped both sales and management teams increase their levels of engagement and performance.  I’ve also seen team charters having a positive ripple effect on other teams.  When employees observe their senior management teams behaving in intentional, transparent, and consistent ways, they’re inspired to follow them and adopt those norms themselves.

passion

I have seen what a difference the development of a charter can make on team performance and engagement.  I truly love this stuff and I’ve seen it work.
